OUR IMPORT PROCESS
Step 1: Complete an order form
Visit Namu Cars Offices along Ngong Road and fill the order form that includes the specifications of the car you need us to import for you e.g. year, color, grade and budget.
Step 2: Deposit payment
Deposit an agreed amount to our account either in cash or through bank transfer, this amount is necessary to initiate bids at the auctions in Japan and is included in the final cost of the car.
Step 3: Auction
Our agents bid for the cars in mind with the details listed on the order form and matching cars are verified by the ground staff at the auction prior to committing to ensure all efforts are made to ensure all client requirements are met.
We may contact the client in case a highly recommended unit is available on the auctions but does not meet some of the client requirements e.g. a grade 4.5 unit that does not have fog lights or alloy rims which were otherwise requested on the order form.
Step 4: Pre-export Procedures
Following a successful bid, the car is transported to our local offices in Japan within a period of 3-5 days depending on the auction location.
At the local office, the car is subjected to a full mechanical inspection including detailed engine, suspension and underbody checks as well as a mileage verification test by our agents. Should the car fail any of the tests, the bid is cancelled and car returned to the auction house.
After a successful inspection, our agents provide us with detailed pictures of the cars exterior, interior and engine bay which are then shared with the client. The car is then processed for its pre-export inspection at QISJ and booked on the earliest departing vessel to Mombasa.
Step 5: Shipment & Clearance
The client is notified once the shipment booking has been confirmed highlighting the Estimated Time of Departure and Arrival. Shipments to Kenya take about four to five weeks. The client is notified a week before the vessel docks in Mombasa port.
Step 6: Delivery
The client is notified once the car arrives in Nairobi while our local staff carry out mechanical checks and test drive to ensure the car is in good condition and quality. The car is then booked for detailed wash including exterior and interior and sticker removal. Your Next New Car is now ready for delivery or pick up from our showroom along Ngong Road.
